The Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) expansion includes the construction of a new third terminal, which will significantly increase passenger capacity from 8 million to 20-24 million and cargo capacity from 200,000 to 500,000 tonnes annually. Funded partly by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the project aims to meet future demand, provide international-standard facilities, and improve passenger convenience and safety, ultimately contributing to Bangladesh's economic growth.
