Description
The Matarbari Port Development Project, Bangladesh’s first deep-sea port, is underway in Cox’s Bazar with Japanese support through JICA. Designed to handle large vessels up to 8,000 TEUs, the port will feature a 760-meter jetty, container and multipurpose terminals, and advanced logistics infrastructure. It aims to ease congestion at Chittagong Port, boost trade, and integrate with the Maheshkhali-Matarbari economic corridor. The project is expected to transform Bangladesh into a regional maritime and energy hub, enhancing connectivity and attracting foreign investment.
Main Project Features
• Container & Multipurpose Terminal (Length 760 m, Depth of berth: CDL 16 m)
• Yard pavement for container and multipurpose terminal (33 ha)
