The Dhaka Mass Rapid Transit Line-1 (MRT Line-1) is Bangladesh’s first underground metro rail project, currently under construction to alleviate severe traffic congestion in the capital. Supervised by the Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL), the project is being implemented through 12 contract packages, with oversight and technical support from international consultants including Nippon Koei Bangladesh Ltd., under the guidance of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
